Alan Turing Institute Pilot Project - AI and Inclusion This research seeks to understand the design and deployment of AI to benefit all members of society, including traditionally underserved communities. The impact that AI will have on education and employment in the future is undeniable , but the possible outcomes of AI research with those in the largest minority group have yet to be fully explored. The United Nations estimates that over a billion people live with some form of disability and AI could be a force for good for this group as long as they are not marginalised.

Global Symbols The aim of Global Symbols is to link and create freely available Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) symbol sets with other linguistically and culturally localised symbol sets to provide world wide access to appropriate pictographic based communication and we are very grateful to the UNICEF Innovation Fund for this work.

LexDis The LexDis project has allowed the team to take a participatory approach to the way disabled students develop technology based strategies when working in e-learning situations. Helpful guides have been created, providing hints and tips on how to make the most of e-learning technology. The strategies have been generated by those studying and working in Further and Higher Education to help others make the most of a wide range of apps, productivity tools and assistive technologies.

Web2Access Web2Access provides a tool that can be used as reference for creating accessible Web 2.0 resources. The guides and walk-throughs available will enable you to develop accessible web based resources, expanding your potential website audience. The website also information that will also help you test desktop software. There are over 150 services that have been evaluated by the criteria offered using the online review process.

Slidewiki A major obstacle to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of education in Europe is the lack of widely available, accessible, multilingual, timely, engaging and high-quality educational material (i.e. OpenCourseWare). The creation of comprehensive OpenCourseWare (OCW) is tedious, time-consuming and expensive, with the effect, that often courseware employed by teachers, instructors and professors is incomplete, outdated, inaccessible to those with disabilities and dull. With the open-source SlideWiki platform (available at SlideWiki.org) the effort of the creation, translation and evolution of highly-structured remixable OCW can be widely shared (i.e. crowdsourced).

ATbar The ATbar is a browser based toolbar to aid accessibility of websites with the option to change the look and feel of webpages through text only enlargement, font style and colour changes plus increased line spacing. There are also features for text to speech, a dictionary, spell checking, word prediction and colour overlays.

Synote Synchronise your Notes: Synote is a free web-based application that allows you to synchronise your notes with audio and/or video and also transcribe your audio recordings for you. Index Notes with 'Synmarks': Notes can be tagged with 'Synmarks' which enable you to find, associate and link notes to a part of your audio or video, whereas other software will only let you do this to the entire resource.
